Author and speaker Alan Greene is the CEO & Founder of LifeLight Communications, a 501c3 non-profit ministry. LifeLight facilitates the annual LifeLight Festival in Sioux Falls, SD. Beginning on a church lawn for one night in 1998 with an attendance of 2,000, it has since become one of the nation’s largest music festivals. Held annually over Labor Day weekend, the festival attracts hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country and world. In recent years attendance has reached approximately 300,000 over the three-day event.
Most recently, the South Dakota Festival model has expanded regionally and internationally. LifeLight's first international festival outreach was in Karachi & Hyderabad, Pakistan, followed by Haiti, Guatemala, and Ethiopia. LifeLight's first expansion festival is held in Bethany, MO and is in its fifth year. LifeLight Texas was held in May 2013.
The vision and call of LifeLight is "Taking the Church outside the walls, bringing Light into the darkness with the life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ." The ministry includes Festivals, Missions and Outreach. In John 8:12 Jesus said, "I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but have the Light of Life." From this verse the LifeLight ministry was born.
Capturing the story of this ministry, Alan’s book LifeLight: Taking the Church Outside the Walls gives the public a look into the heart of the festival and ministry.
Alan was raised in North Carolina and moved to Sioux Falls while in high school. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Vicki, Co-Founder & President of LifeLight. They have been married for 38 years and are the parents of three beautiful daughters. They are the proud grandparents to their grandson and three granddaughters.
Alan speaks at churches, events, and conferences on the call of the church and uniting Christians centered on God’s word. He sits on the Cabinet of NGA (Next Generation Alliance), a network of evangelists started by the Luis Palau Association and ordained through AEA (American Evangelistic Association). His passion is to share the Gospel message with as many people as possible and encourage the ongoing work of evangelism and missions in fulfilling Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Alan is pursuing God’s call on his life by “Taking the Church outside the walls, bringing Light into the darkness with the life-changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”. His heart to unify the body of Christ to reach the lost is what motivates him. With the conviction of an evangelist and his background of both ministry and business experience, he’s been given a broad perspective on the calling of the church today.
