more than a Dream

As I write this, I am reflecting on all the miraculous things God has done in the past few months, and my thoughts seem more like a dream than reality. The LifeLight Festival is only two months away and getting to this point has clearly been a move of God. Thanks to those of you who have already partnered with us by giving of your time, talents and finances to help further God’s kingdom.

So many stories can be told because we came together as the body of Christ to “be the Church.” As you read through this newsletter, take time to notice these stories. For example, I well remember a couple walking up to me at the festival and saying, “God rescued us from divorce last year and saved our marriage. We’re back this year to celebrate.” Also, I have heard stories of people adopting children from Haiti and from those who have sponsored a child in a third world country because God was moving on their hearts at the festival.  Still many others have been rescued from a life of drugs or alcoholism or a dysfunctional family situation.

As we move to our new permanent festival and ministry grounds, we are asking you to partner with us in celebrating what God has done and will do as we continue in obedience to His command.

John 3:16. A simple message, yet so profound: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

We will never cease proclaiming the Good News and the truth of the Gospel until the day Jesus returns.
Will you join us?

Until the whole world knows,

Stage Information

Main Stage
The Main Stage will again feature some of the nation’s biggest Contemporary Christian acts.

Souled Out Stage The Souled Out Stage will continue to draw in National and Regional acts who appeal to a more youthful audience, which in translation means louder music and a faster pace! We will again be featuring a Skate Park near the Souled Out Stage for the skateboarding fans and boarders to enjoy!

Coffeehouse Stage
The Coffeehouse Stage will provide a laid back atmosphere where people can come and get out of the sun, have a cup of coffee, enjoy praise and worship music and also learn from our various seminars, which will occur 2 to 3 times per day. It will also feature some late-night music for those “night owls” who like to hang around after the Main Stage is closed.

Kaleidoscope Stage
The Kaleidoscope Stage (formerly known as the Children’s stage) will again offer entertainment and activities for younger children, but this year we are expanding the stage entertainment to also include “Tween” groups. Friday and Saturday nights from 5:00 until 8:00 will feature some hip-hop and also a well know Tween group called “Mission Six.” This area again will be surrounded by inflatable games to keep the kids active all day long.

G2 Stage
The G2 Stage (Global/Gospel) will feature a combination of area gospel and ethnic music groups. We are excited to have this stage back again this year with a new look and name.

360 Stage
Introducing the 360 Stage! This brand new stage will provide a full circle of music. During the day, the stage will feature a combination
of both local and national musicians performing acoustic style music and transitioning into contemporary, then rock, then hard rock, and finally techno music to close out the night. It’s also located indoors
so it will be a place to get away, walk through an art gallery and
listen to some good music. Watch out though…when it gets darker, it’s gonna get LOUD!

Moving Forward...

We Have a Vision

What cVision 3 to 365an be accomplished with 225 acres, interstate access and facilities to accommodate hundreds of thousands of people? With God’s provision and blessing, the answer is quite literally–ANYTHING! Last November, LifeLight announced that farmland east of Worthing had been gifted to the ministry for long-term use. So the question becomes…“what happens after the festival is over?” We believe that God has provided the answer. And we’re calling His answer ‘Vision 3 to 365’ because it calls us to extend the impact of our three day festival to 365 days a year. Keep watching for more information in the weeks and months ahead regarding Vision 3 to 365!

As we move to our permanent ministry and festival grounds we need to develop it. Last year this land was used to harvest crops. Will you help us prepare it to harvest souls for our Lord?
The grass is up; now we need to put in parking, electrical, plumbing, stages and many other infrastructure needs. Why not help us prepare for the thousands who are coming in just a few weeks? We have 225 acres to prepare for the Festival. Here are just a few ways you can help:
    • Stage or Building Upgrade – $5,000
    • 500 Cars (road & parking improvements) – $1,000
    • 5 Electrical Hook-Ups – $500
    • 25 Prayer Tent Bibles – $100
    • Gravel or Grass - $50 load / acre
Time is short (less than 60 days). Thank you for your partnership in ministry.

For the Kingdom,
Alan Greene

LifeLight Missions

LifeLight Missions, in partnership with Life 96.5 Radio, took a team of 26 people from in and around Sioux Falls to Haiti to bring the Good News of Jesus and hope to the broken-hearted. The team visited a mountain village where they gave out care packages to churches and encouraged the Pastors and believers there. The pastors said no teams ever come Haitito them because it’s so difficult to get there. They were extremely grateful.  The church services were incredible! We have experienced many different people and cultures, but we have never seen people worship and praise the Lord with so much passion and fire! They were dancing and singing like David was described in the Bible. It was an incredible experience and the team was in awe of their love for Jesus! Since the earthquake, people are hungry and flocking to the churches. Praise God! There is
a revival going on in Haiti!

The team also had the opportunity to visit tent cities (villages of people simply surviving in tents because they’ve lost their homes and there is no place to go.) They prayed over people, ministered to the people and many accepted Christ for the first time! Pray for the hurting, that their hearts will heal and find comfort in Jesus! The surroundings and atmosphere in Port-Au-Prince are still hard. Buildings are still crumbling from previous damage. Many people are still afraid to go into buildings for fear that another tragedy will happen. Please pray for them that they will find comfort and refuge in our sweet Savior!

“Some wHaitiandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. They they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in. Let them thank the Lord for His steadfast love, for His wondrous works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul He fills with good things.” —Psalm 107:4-9

This should be our prayer for the Haitians and their country—that if they turn to Jesus and give it all to Him, He will bless them beyond comprehension!!

Pakistan Report:
Gospel proclaimed to over 20,000 people – 6,000 respond to the Good News Mark 16:15 (NIV), “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.’”

Jesus said “Go.” A pretty simple command. We responded by going to Pakistan to proclaim truth, hope, and love Pakistanto the people of that nation. Jesus and His word are truth, and once people understand it and have an experience with God, they are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit and experience the real hope and love of Christ. We proclaimed the Gospel to over 20,000 people in Pakistan through 4 days of festivals, 2 days of Pastors conferences, and other outreaches. OvePakistanr 6,000 people responded to the invitation to receive Christ. We ministered through prayer, fellowship, medical supplies, soccer balls, and numerous biblical resources. We believe the souls who were saved are the seeds of real revival in Pakistan.
Let’s pray that the Spirit moves across Pakistan and throughout all of Asia. One day Jesus is going to return. May He find us faithful in proclaiming Him to the nations. Thank you for your prayers and support and for helping us continue to spread the Gospel on the frontlines.

Testimony

“While at the pastors conference for the two days, I was introduced to a man who was catering and was responsible for all the food at the event. I remember smiling and thanking him when we arrived and greeting him when we left and again thanking him and complimenting him on the food. His face is very much still in my mind. I was later told that he was of the Muslim faith. He apparently had been watching and listening to what was said by our speakers at the event, as he came to Pastor Rasheed’s office and told of his commitment to Christ.”

His words:  “I heard all the messages, and I was sitting in the back. In my heart I prayed and accepted Jesus. Please help me now. Thank you to all who came.”

He is now meeting with our partners in Pakistan. Praise God!

2010 Spring Tour Recap

Brian Head WelchThere don’t seem to be many words that can adequately describe the Spring Tour that we recently finished with Brian Head Welch (formerly of KoRn), The Classic Crime & Children 18:3. I think it was best described by our friend Blake from OneHope in an email sent to Alan and Vicki after the tour, which you can read below. We partner with OneHope on each of our Tours, as they provide us with the Book of Hope resources that are handed out to all who attend. The Book of Hope for this particular Tour was customized to have Brian’s story, along with so much great content from the Bible on beginning a relationship with Christ. All in all, over 1,700 people made commitments to Jesus Christ throughout the 11 city Tour! Over 500 of those people making commitmBrian Head Welchents completed a response card and turned it back in to us. The local youth networks in each city are now following up with each of those people! We at LifeLight are so thankful for organizations like OneHope, Pizza Ranch, VantagePoint, & Vander Haag’s that make these Tours a reality.  Also, a huge thank you to all the businesses and individuals locally in each city for all their hard work that make each night go so well!  We are always told by the bands that our Tours are so different than others they go on, and it’s because of all of these people that make that happen!

This year’s Spring Tour was, to say the least, an amazingly
successful time of ministry. One of the reasons why we love to
partner with LifeLight is your ability to sidestep the traditional
(and safe) Christian methodology of entertainment, and put a somewhat
controversial, fringe artist like Brian Head Welch in front of rural American audiences.
At least 75% or more of the attending audience would never have set foot inside a church, let
alone have listened to a Gospel presentation. But they did.

Mission Accomplished
LifeLight brought a new kind of church and a new style of worship to these towns. The deep systemic issues that were exposed among teens, either through the Prayer Request cards or through the video interviews we did, was a heartsick revelation. I would sincerely doubt that a mainstream CCM artist could’ve surfaced that depth of brokenness. Brian’s story and message was raw and real, startling and sincere. His presentation was only bolstered higher by Rob’s mixing of the right bands, and Dave’s ability to bring the entire tour to a level of Spiritual openness and clarity of mission. There is a powerful formula here. We shot nearly 5 hours of video footage, both with the bands and teens in the audience.  We heard some amazing stories...meth addiction, sexual abuse, incarceration, depression, isolation, and desperate redemption.

I definitely want to thank you for your vision, and for your trust in the abilities of Rob and Dave to make a profound difference on a generation that needs to hear the Gospel message on its own terms, and in a delivery style that only they can understand.

Look forward to moving forward.
Blake Silverstrom, OneHope

Artist Spotlight

MercyMe–2010 LifeLight Festival Sunday Night Headliner

The multi-platinum national act MercyMe will close the 2010 LifeLight Music Festival on Sunday, September 5, 2010.  This is the first appearance by MercyMe at the festival.

The award-winning band MercyMe is encouraging “All Of Creation” to “love
well”
with their
MercyMe upcoming studio album “The Generous Mr. Lovewell” (INO Records), released May 4th nationwide.  The hit “I Can Only Imagine” launched MercyMe into national status on both secular and Christian radio in 2001, since then the men of MercyMe – Bart Millard (vocals), Jim Bryson (keys), Mike Scheuchzer (guitar), Nathan Cochran (bass) and Robby Shaffer (drums) have continued on a successful musical career worshipping the Lord and leading others in His praise. That commitment has guided the band through the creation of six independent projects (which have amassed total sales of 100,000 units) and led them to sign on as one of the flagship artists of INO Records.

Bart says the band’s goals for the ministry of MercyMe are quite simple. “I pray that God would use us like psalmists – it would be an immense privilege to think that a song we write might outlive this band. I pray that when people look at these five men, they see the hand of God. We want to lead people to His throne through worship. It’s not about us. Any time I can step away from the microphone and listen to the body of Christ sing, I’ll do it. I’d rather hear that than hear myself sing any day of the week. We hope to be doing this when praise and worship isn’t ‘popular’ anymore – but why shouldn’t it continue to be? It’s the reason we were created.”

Other bands making their first appearance at LifeLight this year include The David Crowder Band, Group 1 Crew, Francesca Battistelli, Mikeschair, Kari Jobe, The Parachute Band, Needtobreathe, Brian “Head” Welch (formerly of KoRn), and The Almost. Julie Klinger, Festival Director, adds, “With a new location we wanted to bring in some new artists who haven’t been to the festival before.  LifeLight is thrilled to have a great line-up that people will really enjoy.” You can view other band announcements at www.LifeLight.org/festival.
