Our Missionaries in Juarez, Mexico

Just across the border from El Paso, TX is a land that is poverty stricken with a growing crime rate. Our work in Juarez has been growing since our first trip there in 1998. The Lord has done some amazing things through LifeLight Missions including 2 Church plants; Luz De Vida (LifeLight) and Una Nueva Vision (The New Vision). Our ministry there is to continue to raise up disciples within the community and bring light into the darkness.

Jorge & LuzJorge & Luz Porras
(Una Nueva Vision Church)

Jorge and Luz Porras are bringing people to the cross, sharing the love of our Savior and boldly proclaiming the Gospel to the lost and dying of Juarez. In the midst of drug wars where danger lurks around every corner, they are serving the Lord on the front lines by pastoring the Una Nueva Vision church, doing evangelistic outreaches and discipling the new believers.

Jorge, Luz and their three daughters, Kate, Lisa & Jireh need your prayers and support. As they live in the midst of danger and suffering, they hold strong to God's love and protection. Please pray for their health & safety and that they would continue to fearlessly make known the Gospel.

This is the story of how we met Jorge and Luz on our first LifeLight mission trip to Mexico:

About three weeks before our trip to Juarez in 2003, we had heard about a whole colonia of pallet homes that were burned out by the authorities. It was tragic; two babies were killed and people were literally driven from their homes and displaced. Where do thousands of people who have no place to live go? We prayed about how we could be a blessing to those people, but we had no clue how to find them or what we could do about it. We then met an interpreter who thought she might know what area we could find some of these people - we drove around for a long time not being sure where to stop - but praying - we pulled up the bus into a colonia. We will never forget how the Mexican people gathered around the bus in an organized circle.  They were indeed some of the people who had lost everything in the fire and were in great need. Alan walked into the circle and said we had prayed to find them and we wanted to "visit with them in Jesus' name." Jorge walked into the circle and said, "Three weeks ago we dropped to our knees in this very spot and prayed for the Lord to send someone. We knew God would provide, and you are the only ones who have come. God has sent you."

It was an incredible day of ministry. We had food, fellowship, games, teaching, and prayer; and the Lord added to His kingdom that day as many received Christ. Praise God!

We didn't know that day that here we would be several years later, Jorge now a Pastor and missionary for LifeLight full-time! How awesome that God plans every little detail and schedules ordained meetings!

 Pastor Eusabio & Rebecca
(Luz De Vida Church)

Eusabio and Rebecca have a non-denominational church in Jaurez. LifeLight through their donations, also helped purchase land for another church plant on the east side of Juarez. We continue to support the on-going work of the ministry there and the church plant on the east side of Juarez. We continue to support the on-going work of the ministry there and the church which they have named Luz De Vida - LifeLight church.

They love the Lord and continue to disciple new believers. God is adding to their church and many of our teams have participated in outreaches at their church.
