SOUTH DAKOTA
Rosebud Native American Reservation
Mission, SD
Located right in the middle of our country is a tribe of Sioux Native Americans who need the hope and love of Jesus Christ. Here in South Dakota lives nearly 22,000 Sioux Native Americans on the Rosebud Reservation. Here on this reservation, 53% of the population are under the age of 18 and they have the number one suicide rate for teenagers in the nation having 400 teens commit suicide in just the last two years.
LifeLight feels the call to not just sit and watch this great people group continue to sink more and more in hopelessness, but to rise up and take action by bringing the hope of Jesus Christ to them and restoring their pride. Many of these kids and youth will be caught in the vicious cycle of life of little opportunity and hopelessness unless we do something about it. In accepting this call, the team will engage in relational evangelism where we will focus on loving and encouraging the people. This trip needs team members who are willing to serve and love on these broken people and give them the all sufficient Savior Jesus Christ. It is our prayer that God will one day receive worship and praise from every person on this reservation and we know that with God we are capable of reaching every person and doing it all for the Glory of God.
