Spring Tour 2008 RECAP

Spring Tour ’08 Recap:

Several days have passed since the Spring Tour came to an end, but the excitement and buzz continues on.  If you are a numbers person, divide 1,500 by 6,500 and as long as your calculator works like mine, you’ll see .23 displayed on your screen.  The number 23 can stand for a lot of things.  Michael Jordan wore number 23 in basketball, Dr. Pepper advertises as having 23 flavors, 23 is the ninth prime number, it takes blood 23 seconds to flow through the human body, and Psalm 23 says the following:  1The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,  3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

You see numbers are just numbers, but when a number is someone it has a much greater meaning!  From day one, we have been called to bring the message of Jesus Christ to those in need.  It might be a missions trip to Africa, a big festival at a water-park, kids meeting as part of a club on campuses, but it also means bringing this message to smaller cities in our area that are so often over-looked as a great place to host a rock-n-roll show.  That’s what LifeLight Tours is about and this Springs Tour was the perfect example of that.  Its about communities coming together for a greater cause!  Building 429, Remedy Drive, Bread of Stone, and LifeLight all stand for that!

You ask what the point was of the number 23 mentioned earlier?  It stands for 23%.  About 6,500 people came out for the 11 shows in 11 days.  Over 1,500 people raised their hand making a commitment to Christ during these shows.  One thousand five hundred people!  1,500 divided by 6,500 equals 23%.  That’s the percentage of people who left these events each night changed.  Changed Lives!

Ironically enough, the number 23 comes into play one more time on this Tour.  Each night, Jason of Building 429 shared a passion of his, a passion that is equally felt by us at LifeLight.  It’s a desire and passion to help the least of these.  We ended this tour with a total of 261 child sponsorships in 11 days, equaling 23 per night though our partnership with Food for the Hungry!  Thanks to all of you who became heroes to those in need.  The result, more Changed Lives!

We want to thank the bands and the promoters in each city who made each event possible and for making these Tours so special!  Also a very special THANK YOU to Pizza RanchFood for the Hungry for their sacrificial giving to make these events possible in each city.  Be sure to thank them at your city for helping us to be able to bring these great events to your city.  And as it says in Psalm 23, “…I will dwell in the house of the LORD.”  To many people, that statement comes with a whole new meaning because of the hard work of many on this Tour!
