TROY OUTKA
Youth Worker Network Coordinator
We asked our staff to give us a peek into the 'behind the scenes' world of what makes them tick. We hope that by letting you kind of 'hang out' in the offices here, and letting you know us a bit more that you will get a glimpse of the joy in our jobs, and most importantly, the joy we find in Christ.
1.) What was your FIRST connection with LifeLight Communications?
My first "connection" to LifeLight Communications came before LifeLight Communications existed. Co-founder, Vicki Greene, was actually on the first Board of Directors for a youth ministry organization in Sioux Falls that I was involved with--called the Sioux Empire Youth Ministries Network.
2.) What do you actually DO all day?
My days are filled with meeting new and veteran youth workers from the area, preparing, planning and promoting monthly youth worker gatherings, helping to facilitate networking among the local youth ministers, attending Souled Out Campus Ministry clubs in the area, prayer time.... Since I am a part-timer, I also fill my days with things like helping with the home-schooling of my children.
3.) What have you been reading lately?
I like to read multiple books at a time, so currently I am reading It (no, not the Stephen King version--this one is by Pastor Craig Groeschel), Axiom by Bill Hybels, Who Do You Think You Are, Anyway? by Dr. Robert Rohm, and Contemplative Youth Ministry by Mark Yaconelli.
4.) If you had 48 hours and $500 to do anything, what would you do?
With $500 and 48 hours of free time, I would take my wife and three kids to a nice hotel and just kick back and enjoy being together...they are my favorite people in the world!
